Karl Buckel (12 June 1920 – 2 September 1997) was a highly decorated ''Hauptmann'' of the Reserves in the Wehrmacht during World War II and a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Karl Buckel was captured by French troops at the end of the war, but escaped soon after.
